Case Study | Visiting Eucalyptus Book

'Visiting Eucalyptus' is an installation featuring a number of artworks including a 16 minute concert work, a photographic installation, a book and film and is a thoughtful collaboration between art director/designer Tim Jetis, and composer Damian Barbeler. This project is a tribute to the Award-winning novel Eucalyptus by Murray Bail.

Working closely with friend and collaborator Damian Barbeler, Tim Jetis traveled around NSW including the Far South Coast collecting images, textures and references from the beauty and variety of many hundreds of eucalyptus he has visited. The final phase of the project took form as a photographic exhibition of some of the imagery and inspiration they collected accompanied by a 16 minute concert work composed by Damian, drawing upon the tones and characters of what the Eucalyptus tree means as a symbol of Australian identity. This project is a tribute to the Award-winning novel Eucalyptus by Murray Bail.

The installation at the 4 Winds Festival was one part of a larger art project which also included in a number of artworks including a 16 minute concert work, a photographic installation, a book and film.

The project was featured in the Australian Weekend Review which also coincided with the 20-year anniversary of Murray Bail's Franklin Award-winning novel Eucalyptus, which was the inspiration for the work.
