Sending Files Electronically
- You can send your files via email or upload here.
- Please keep total email size under 10MB.
Sample Proofs
- We always prefer the client, wherever possible, to supply us with a colour or B&W sample/proof print so that we can check it against the file that we receive.
- If possible, please supply a mocked up copy of the file with notes stating the pagination.
Fonts
- Postscript, True Type or Open Type fonts are recommended.
- If your file contains vector art, please convert the fonts within the vector art to outlines before saving.
- Always embed fonts when creating a PDF.
- Do not subset fonts.
Images
- Images to be CMYK only.
- Images should have a resolution of 300dpi at 100% size.
- Images should be scaled, rotated, colour managed in the images native programme.
- Line art should be 600dpi.
- Transparencies must be flattened.
- All non-bleed images should be kept at least 3mm from the trim (edge of page).
Imposition
- Do not set up your document with facing pages.
- Please supply files as single, subsequent pages only (not spreads).
- Each single page must have 3mm bleed on all four sides.
- Trapping should be turned off.
Databases for Variable Printing
- Provide your database in a programme such as Microsoft Excel, CSV, TXT.
- For more information, please call one of our staff.
- If you require a particular font, you will need to provide us with the truetype font.
Colour
- Do not create custom names for spot colours (i.e. Dark Blue, Bright Orange etc).
- Use the correct Pantone name (i.e. Pantone 300 CV).
- Always use a CMYK formula for solid black areas. Using a percentage of all the CMYK colours in your black creates a rich black (i.e. C 30, M 30, Y 30, K 100).
- When reversing white text out of black, make your black less rich (i.e. C 20, M 20, Y 20, K 100)
- For a smooth appearance on solid colours, tints and/or blends, apply noise or texture from a programme such as Photoshop. (Adding noise or texture allows an improvement in colour reproduction and avoids any sort of banding).
- Tints should not be less than 10%.
- Consider breaking up large areas of solid colour with imagery or text.
- We strongly recommend that if you have any specific colour requirements, such as matching colours to a logo or other sample, you supply us with details or a sample copy.
Supplying Your File in Another Format
- In the event that you cannot provide your file in PDF format, we will only accept InDesign or Illustrator - ask our Prepress Team for more information.
- If you do submit your file in another format, please collect for output all linked files, fonts, images, logos, including embedded images.
